Ah!! I have already been out a month... WHAT?? Time is flying! I am getting really scared because two weeks from yesterday I fly out to Manaus!!! I really need to buckle down even more these next two weeks on the language!!! I have committed to ONLY pray in Portguese (especially in my personal prayers) and say everything in Portguese first and then if I can´t get the message across then say it in English!
This week had a lot of highs and lows. I have been really frusturated, because I feel like I can´t be the missionary I know can be because I can´t say what I really want to. I can´t teach as well because of the Portuguese. Haha! It has really taught me that missionary work is about the basics. All I can say in Portuguese right now is just the basics, ´´God is our loving Heavenly Father, Jesus died for us, Joseph Smith is a prophet, etc.`` Sometimes it is soooo frusturating, but I really have gained a testimony of the basic doctrines of this church.
This week I went Proselyting!!!!!!!!!!! The BEST expierience of my life!!! I was kind of getting to the point where I was over sitting in a classroom, but after proselyting, I am SOOOO excited! We took a bus into downtown Sao Paulo and then had an hour to hand out 9 Books of Mormon! Brazilians are the NICEST people you will ever meet! We handed all of ours out in 45 minutes and got referralls afterwards. I loved just talking to people and hearing about their life! I cannot wait to actually start seeing progress in people´s lives as they accept the gospel!
This week I have just been thinking a lot about what a mission really is. Like how in the HECK do you get a bunch of 18-19 kids to leave their family, friends, technology, and some of the most fun times of their life to go to a foreign country and talk to people about the gospel??? It is AMAZING!!! I love being surrounded by other amazing missionaries. This truly is an expierence of a life time that I will never forget. It is so hard!!! Portguese is SOOO hard!!! But I love this gospel. I have never had my testimony grow so much before, and it has only been one month. I know the Savior lives and that Joseph Smith was a prophet! Please read Ether 12 and Moroni 10!!! Such amazing chapters!
I had a really cool experience this week in one of my lessons. My companion, Sister Beecroft, is seriously AMAZING!!!! She is my human dictionary... seriously! She is practically fluent because she took 7 years of Spanish and studied Portuguese a ton before the mish. Anyway, during one of our lessons she started speaking and the spirit was SO strong!!! She was looking straight into the eyes of our investigator and just speaking/bearing testimony in Portuguese! It sounded like she was a native. I started to cry because the spirit was so strong and then I look up and our investigator was crying!!! Afterwards, Sister Beecroft said she didn´t even have to think in English. She was just speaking. She is such an example to me and I hope I can teach like her one day.
I have so much more I want to write, but I just don´t have time.
But just know I love you all! I pray for each of you every single day!!
Have an amazing week!
